The Bōmmunity's very own fandom, for the upcoming indie metroidvania Bō: Path of the Teal Lotus, developed by Squid Shock Studios. Bō is a hand drawn 2D platforming adventure, inspired and based on Japanese culture. As such, it takes many elements from Japanese culture, such as food, architecture, and yōkai. If you have any questions about the game, I highly recommend you join to the Squid Shock Studios/Bо̄ Discord server. It's pretty active, and your questions will be answered!
Bō: Path of the Teal Lotus is a 2.5D platformer with metroidvania elements based in a world of Japanese folklore. Use your legendary bō staff to bounce and move fluidly through a delightfully-demonic East Asian fever dream. Use the tight movement and reset system to reach areas efficiently and gracefully or make an intense yet satisfying recovery while floundering for footing. Fluid jumping, bouncing, aerial/acrobatic platforming and combat are taken to new levels of flow and complexity, becoming central to the game play.
Unravel the mysteries of an original "untold tale" from Japanese folklore! You play as Bō, a Tentaihana that descended from the heavens to play a key role in a mysterious prophecy. Bō is the wielder of a shapeshifting earring that serves as their main weapon and the conduit of mystical abilities that are unlocked throughout the game.
