Daruma Dolls
Daruma Dolls are a type of collectible that can be found all over Strange Garden. They function as the spells of the game, and come in 8 varieties.
Overview
Daruma Dolls require 3 tea leaves to use. Each Daruma has a drastically different effect, ranging from firing projectiles to creating hazards to breathing fire and even more. After each use, Darumas will enter a short cooldown. Each Daruma has three levels, which correlates to their eyes.
Daruma Eyes
All Daruma Dolls start with one eye. This is their base form. A Daruma can have up to two eyes normally, but are capable of reaching a three-eyed level under certain conditions.
Whenever a Daruma is used while Bō's Tea Kettle is boiling, it will use the next highest eye variation. This means when a one-eyed Daruma is used during boiling, it will function as a two-eyed Daruma, and when a two-eyed Daruma is used, it will function as a three-eyed Daruma. Using a two-eyed Daruma while boiling is the only way to use a Daruma's three-eyed variation.
Awakening a Daruma
Each Daruma Doll can be "awakened" at the Daruma Doll shop in Sakura City by speaking to Danno, which unlocks the two-eyed level. In order to do this, Bō will need to give Danno an Awakening Ink, in addition to a small fee of Fox Fire.
Daruma Dolls List
Chomper
Chomper is the first Daruma that Bō will obtain. It is received as a gift from Shimeji in Uzumaki Cave. When used, Chomper will rush forward in the direction Bō is facing. Using the Daruma again while it is moving will cause it to chomp down, dealing damage to whatever it bites.
The two-eyed level of Chomper is larger and will deal more damage with each bite. The three-eyed level of Chomper is even larger, and will chomp repeatedly for its entire duration.
Pyro-Kun
Pyro-Kun is the second Daruma that Bō will obtain. It is obtained from Hashihime after defeating her on Senchō Bridge. When used, Pyro-Kun will blow fire in a continuous stream in front of Bō for a short time, dealing damage to anything caught in the flames.
The two-eyed level of Pyro-Kun has larger range. The three-eyed level of Pyro-Kun blows blue fire, dealing far more damage and having a longer duration.
Ken
Ken is a Daruma that can be purchased from Danno's Daruma Doll shop in Sakura City. When used, Ken summons a large spinning shuriken on a chain. Using Ken again stalls the shuriken in place. This shuriken can be pogo'd off of.
The two-eyed level of Ken increases the shuriken size and the time the shuriken spins in place. The three-eyed level of Ken increases the shuriken size even more.
Jingu
Jingu is a Daruma that can be purchased from Danno's Daruma Doll shop in Sakura City. When used, Jingu will summon Kosenjobi orbs that home in on the nearest enemy and deal damage on contact.
The two-eyed level of Jingu summons up to six Kosenjobi. The three-eyed level of Jingu replaces the orbs with a large disembodied hand. This hand will home in on the nearest enemy; if the enemy is not a boss, it is instantly killed. If it is a boss, it will instead take large damage.
Toge-Chan
Toge-Chan is a Daruma that can be found in Midori Forest. It is located in southern Midori Forest after a brief platforming section, and requires the Grapple Gun to obtain. When used, Toge-Chan will summon four thorn babies that orbit Bō, dealing damage to whatever they touch.
The two-eyed level of Toge-Chan increases the number of thorn babies to 6, extends their duration, and increases their orbiting speed. The three-eyed level of Toge-Chan increases the number further to 8, as well as increasing their orbiting speed and duration even more.
Mamori
Mamori is a Daruma that can be purchased from Danno's Daruma Doll shop in Sakur City. When used, Mamori will summon its armor around Bō, giving them temporary invulnerability. After the invulnerability ends, the armor pushes away all enemies and slashes the nearest one, dealing damage.
The two-eyed level of Mamori increases the duration of the invulnerability. The three-eyed level of Mamori will slash all enemies pushed back by the armor, instead of just the closest.
Yuki
Yuki is a Daruma that can be found in Megumi Mountain. It is located in central Megumi Mountain in a small spike cavern. When used, Yuki summons a Sekkagami that rises above Bō for a brief time before exploding. Using Yuki again will manually detonate the explosion.
The two-eyed level of Yuki will summon an additional Sekkagami. The three-eyed level will instead summon a Sekkagami sentinel turret above Bō that fires rapidly at the closest enemy.
Kaboomaru
Kaboomaru is a Daruma that can be found in Midori Forest. It is obtained from the optional boss Kitsura after defeating it in northern Midori Forest. When used, Kaboomaru will throw a powerful bomb above Bō. Using Kaboomaru again will cause the bomb to detonate.
The two-eyed level of Kaboomaru has a larger blast radius. The three-eyed level of Kaboomaru increases the blast radius even further and fires off two smaller bombs after the initial explosion.
